Preventing Teen Trafficking

As I began my research for this article, I found human trafficking cases very close to home. I know that human trafficking – especially of young girls and boys – is rampant in some communities; I didn’t realize it included one of my communities. Just last year, a 13-year-old in Irving was rescued by Homeland Security investigators from traffickers (wfaa.com). I was mortified. The more I delved into the subject, the more alarmed I became.

Although sexual predators have been in our society for a very long time, social media opens endless doors of opportunity for those who plan to slither into the lives of others and create havoc. It’s easy to be deceitful when hiding behind the internet, and unfortunately, there are many who are frighteningly deceitful.
