Remember

By Lexi Wesley
Life is short, so live it to the fullest. This is a simple truth but, even in being quarantined I was reminded that I can allow myself to live just a little bit more. I’ve realized that at times I tend to get lost in having everything being so put together and detailed that I tend to forget to show myself grace when things don’t always go as planned.

In the words of Bob Goff, “God also says his mercies are new every morning–even the ones when you don’t want to get out of bed. With every sunrise, God gives us another blank sheet of paper and invites us to fill it up with things that come alive.”

It was in reading a letter from my aunt, that I was reminded to take in every moment with those that I love. To capture the moments that I live in so I can look back and laugh; but to also do my best to really be present in the moments we get, because only Lord knows when a day will come and we’ll wish we got to have one more laugh, one more hug, or could’ve sent that message telling someone how much they meant to us.

That letter pointed out that although you may experience tough times in life you should always allow yourself to feel what you feel, but don’t allow yourself to get stuck. I think at times we get so caught up in wanting to be strong that we tend to suppress instead of express what needs to be let out. So in the words of Bob Goff, “Go ahead and be sad yourself if you need to. Then find your way back to hope.”

I don’t know what this season of life has brought you but I hope it has allowed you to become more reflective of all that you have, all that you are, and all of those that you’re surrounded with. I hope that you extend more kindness and spread more joy to those around you knowing life is way too short for you to live any other way.

Lastly, I’d like to leave you all with something that my aunt wrote to me as I feel that in this season it’s important to remember to, “keep your head up and continue to trust God.”
