Can I Be the Real Me on IG?

Clarendon. Gingham. Mayfair. The list goes on of filters available on sites like Instagram, where images can be modified to fit in the perfect combinations of contrast, brightness, exposure, and society’s ideal of beauty. Don’t get me wrong, in some cases filters can be merely used to slightly enhance one’s beauty, but in the digital realm these filters, body editors, and facial perfectors make for some unrealistic expectations. These tools create a society based on insecurity and lack of self-love, as users begin to equate our worth to a number at the bottom of a post and the fabricated version of ourselves.
