Avoiding Emotional Reactions

We all have emotions, but some of us can manage them better than others. To avoid the emotional reactions that are viewed negatively, we must first understand how our emotions affect us, and where the control of our emotions is located. Inside the brain is the amygdala, and it plays a key role in the processing of our emotions. The amygdala allows us to feel certain emotions and to perceive them in other people. It also allows us to prepare for emergencies; the “flight or fight” syndrome. Our bodies give us a clue about our feelings during an emotional situation.
