Free conference designed to inform, prepare, and empower today’s youth for tomorrow’s demanding society.
Keepin’ it real. That’s what teens want to do today. Prompted by the continued enthusiastic responses to Keepin’ It Real!, Sharon-Jones Scaife, publisher of Teen Graffiti magazine and board president of Teens Reaching Teens, Inc. recently announced the return of Keepin’ It Real! for 2014, making this the eleventh consecutive year for this popular back-to-school event for teens.
Keepin’ It Real! 2014 will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at North Lake College, 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving, Texas 75038 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Last year youth attended this magnificent one-day conference. Our goal this year is to continue to empower young people (grades 6-12) from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding areas with information that will help them be successful students and responsible citizens in their communities.
This FREE one-day youth conference provides our teens with “real life” solutions to problems they face and in the process help build their self-confidence as they prepare to return to school. As with previous Keepin’ It Real! youth empowerment conferences, the 2014 event is lining up to be just as lively, educational, and fun. Designed to build self-confidence as teens prepare to return to school this fall, the summit offers seven breakout sessions and a college/community fair, plus workshops about health, wellness, finances and other issues.
This year’s event will involve youths, ages 12 to 18 who come from across the metroplex to share a day of activities and information. The summit will also include entertainment and a keynote speaker for participants, who each will leave with a complimentary backpack and school supplies.
The event is FREE, but participants must pre-register in advance at www.keepinitrealtg.com or www.teengraffiti.com.
For the eleventh year, Backpacking for Education (BFE) also returns. BFE is a program that supplies the attending youth with backpacks filled with school supplies and well wishes for a safe and productive school year. Additionally, some students will walk away with door prizes and all will receive giveaways.
Keepin’ It Real! 2014 will be held at North Lake College, 5001 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving, Texas. Teens, youth organizations, YMCA’s, Boys and Girls Clubs, etc. from all over the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex are invited to make plans now to attend and are encouraged to register now. Additionally, sponsors and vendors are invited to contact Teen Graffiti magazine to secure their participation in this highly anticipated and successful event.
Registration is FREE! However, pre-registration is required! EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JULY 21, 2014.
